The Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League, a 501(c)(3) organization sponsored in part by Major League Baseball, needs host families in or around Westhampton, Southampton, Sag Harbor and Montauk for the 2014 summer. The HCBL offers free family entertainment, inspires community youth, hosts free baseball clinics, and drives traffic to area businesses. However, none of it could be done without the help of community members who open their homes to these student-athletes, with whom they have built relationships that last long after the season is complete.
HCBL players arrive May 29 and the season runs for approximately two months. Each player is in good academic standing with his university and has been recommended by his college coach not only for his ability but his character. Teams play five to six games a week, with 20 games at home and 20 on the road. Host families are asked to provide a place to sleep, basic rations, access to laundry, and access to the internet. They are not responsible for transporting players to and from games, or required to attend games (although the support is appreciated).
Become a part of the HCBL team by becoming a host family. The experience has proven to be highly enriching for all those who have taken part. To sign up or to speak with an existing host family about their past experience, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 631-238-8251.
