Two Medevaced After Scaffolding Collapses in Montauk

Two men were airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital last Wednesday afternoon, July 30, after being injured when scaffolding collapsed at a house at 11 Wills Point Road in Montauk where they were working.

One of the Medevac helicopters was dispatched from Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach, and the other came from Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip. Both Medevacs landed at the Montauk Firehouse to transport the two injured patients.

The men, whose names have not been released by East Hampton Town Police, were working on the roof of the house when the scaffolding collapsed, according to Police Detective Sergeant Greg Schaefer. Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, he said, and both men were conscious, alert and stable when police arrived at the scene. Both men have since been released from the hospital.

The cause of the collapse is still under investigation.
