Alfred R. Tumbarello Jr. Of Speonk Dies August 14

Alfred R. Tumbarello Jr. of Speonk died on August 14 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 67.

Mr. Tumbarello was born on August 18, 1946, to Anne and the late Alfred Tumbarello in Brooklyn. The family moved to Valley Stream in 1961 and he graduated from Valley Stream Central High School. On August 11, 1973, he married his sweetheart, Mariah.

He earned his drug and alcohol counseling certificate from Passages Counseling Center and donated his time to helping those who were struggling with addiction. He was also an entrepreneur who owned several carpentry and construction companies, ABJ Construction and Tumbarello Home Improvements. He enjoyed going to the ocean, spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren, survivors said, adding that he touched many lives with his generosity and kind nature and will be remembered for his great love for God, his family and friends.

Mr. Tumbarello is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mariah (DeMasco) Tumbarello; three sons, Alfred Tumbarello III and wife Jeana of Florida, Michael Tumbarello of Speonk, and Noah Tumbarello and wife Erin of Colorado Springs; a daughter, Cherish Tumbarello of Speonk; a brother, Roger Tumbarello and wife Nancy of Pleasant Valley; and a sister, Jane McTurk and husband Andrew of Hauppauge. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kyle, Kayla, Kayne, Owen and Mary; 13 nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

A wake was held on August 17 at Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach. A funeral service took place on August 18 at Living Water Church in Riverhead.
