Shinnecock Coast Guard Station Responds To Pleasure Craft Taking On Water

Coast Guard Station Shinnecock responded when a pleasure boat started taking on water Thursday morning near the border of Peconic and Flanders bays. Two passengers were aboard, but there were no injuries or pollution reported.

According to Petty Officer Frank Iannazzo-Simmons of the Coast Guard’s public affairs detachment in New York, a 25-foot rescue boat was dispatched from the Shinnecock station “just in case.” A commercial salvage vessel from Sea Tow put the recreational powerboat in a side tow and took it to Larry’s Lighthouse Marina in Aquebogue, according to the Coast Guard.
