Polo Action Continues In Hampton Cup


Action continued last week in the Hampton Cup 20-goal polo tournament at the Bridgehampton Polo Club.

White Birch remained undefeated on the season with two wins, beating C.T. Energia, 8-5, on Tuesday, August 19, and getting past Palm Beach Polo/KIG, 13-11, on Saturday afternoon. In that game, Hilario Ulloa (rated nine goals) scored nine goals to lead his team and was named MVP, while his horse, Kokena, was named Best Playing Pony. He also scored four goals in his team’s win over C.T. Energia earlier in the week. Sponsor Alessandro Bazzoni led C.T. Energia with three goals in that loss.

In a morning game on Saturday, C.T. Energia beat Equuleus, 16-8. Six-goaler Kris Kampsen led C.T. Energia with nine goals, six of them off penalty shots. On August 20, Equuleus had beaten Los Machitos, 11-8. Cristian “Magoo” LaPrida led Equuleus with six goals.

C.T. Energia was slated to play Equuleus on Sunday, August 24, but results were not available at press time. A doubleheader was scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, with C.T. Energia playing Palm Beach Polo/KIG in the morning followed by Equuleus against White Birch in the afternoon. On Saturday, Los Machitos will play Palm Beach Polo/KIG at 4 p.m.
