The East Hampton girls soccer team picked up a 2-1 win over Pierson in a non-league home game. Lisseth Rodriguez scored twice for the Lady Bonackers, her second goal off an assist from Wylee Musnicki 18 minutes into the second half. Cecelia Blowe made eight saves for East Hampton. Pierson was led by Lottie Evans, who scored off an assist from Abi Holder. Alyssa Kneeland and Hayley Lund split time in goal for the Lady Whalers, combining for 12 saves. Defender Meg Schiavoni also prevented a goal by kicking it off the goal line to keep the game close.
The Lady Mariners dropped a non-league home game against Babylon, falling 4-1. Diana Torres scored Southampton’s only goal, while Jenny Codis made 14 saves. Babylon had just a 1-0 lead at halftime before tallying three goals in the second.
The Lady Bonackers walloped Port Jefferson in their Division III opener at home, winning 6-1. East Hampton went up 2-0 at halftime and opened the floodgates in the second half to put the game away. Elizabeth Bistrian led the Lady Bonackers with three goals, while Francesca Keogh scored twice and had two assists and Brooke Rivkind had one goal. Bistrian, Sophia DePasquale, Alyssa Bahel and Rivkind all had assists. Leonella Acevedo made three saves and Alex Rutkowski saw some time in goal as well, making two saves.
Defending Class C New York State Champion Pierson got its season started on a winning note as well, easily beating Greenport/Southold, 5-1, on the road. Ana Sherwood had three goals and an assist, while Erika Selyukova scored once and eighth-grader Hollie Schleicher added a goal. Sheila Mackey made three saves for Pierson, while Charlotte Johnson made one save. Pierson was up 3-1 at halftime.
