The Southampton Town Highway Department will be repaving Springville Road south of Montauk Highway on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The roadway will not be closed but will be reduced to one lane of traffic in the section being paved and motorists are asked to avoid using the road if possible.
Highway Superintendent Alex Gregor said the work would begin on Tuesday morning and would be completed by the end of the day on Wednesday.
“If you can avoid the area, please do,” Mr. Gregor said. “There will be one way traffic, with flagmen in place to steer motorists but if you don’t have to use the road we would appreciate that.” There are also detour signs marking a route leading around the paving work.
The repaving of Springville Road is the second phase of work being done with a $400,000 state grant the town received last year. The first phase funded repaving of Ponquogue Avenue to its intersection with Springville Road in the Rampasture area of Hampton Bays.
