The East Hampton girls swim team put in a strong effort against defending League III champion Harborfields at home on October 1, but ultimately succumbed to the strong team, losing 93-77, to drop to 0-1 in League III, 2-1 overall.
“We knew how strong they were going to be and they showed it with some fast swims and a lot of quality depth in multiple events,” East Hampton head coach Craig Brierley said. “But we did not go down without a fight and gave them a very competitive meet.”
The teams were tied after the 500-yard freestyle, the eighth of 12 events, but Harborfields was the stronger team down the stretch.
