October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and in recognition Ms. Helen Atkinson Barnes from The Retreat visited Mr. Meyers’ health class to present a program called “Healthy Relationships.” The presentation covered domestic violence, dating violence, and many forms of bullying. This year Ms. Barnes had Bryzeida Perez, a former student of Bridgehampton, accompany her for a day to teach the program. Bryzeida started working with The Retreat in her junior year at Bridgehampton, volunteering her to time to participate in the teen relationship project that The Retreat offers East End students. Students earn community service by participating in community-based projects that inform communities about domestic violence.
