Soggy Conditions For Hudsy 5K

Nearly 90 runners and walkers braved soggy conditions on Saturday morning to take part in the 11th annual Hudsy 5K in Quogue.

The race benefits the Quogue School’s Heartlinks Program, which uses the money for special events centered around healthy living, and was created in honor of former Quogue School teacher Joan Hudson, who was a teacher’s assistant in the kindergarten at the Quogue School before dying of breast cancer 13 years ago. Known as “Hudsy,” she would organize recess on the playground and was a catalyst for the cheerleading program at Westhampton Beach Middle School.

Lee Sossen won the race for the third year in a row, in 18:02 (5:48 mile pace). Jack Ryan was second in 18:49 (6:03), followed by Tara Farrell (19:03, 6:08); Heather Wright (19:31, 6:17); Ted Wolfebdoft (19:46, 6:22); Laura Brown (19:48, 6:22); Comeragh Sheehan (20:22, 6:34); J.D. Valdeopino (20:55, 6:44); Scott Meyers (21:08, 6:48); and Rob Duca (22:17, 7:11) who rounded out the top 10.
