Southampton High SchoolThe Mariner Patriot Club will be holding its second annual Veterans Day celebration dinner on Tuesday, November 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Southampton High School cafeteria. All local veterans are invited and welcome to share in a meal and enjoy fellowship and entertainment that evening. Anyone interested should RSVP to club advisor Jacqui Hawkins at or 591-4600.

Maria Pauline DelaCruz is October’s Rotary Student of the Month. Pauline is the senior class co-president, the treasurer and editor of the Yearbook Club, editor of Key Club, sergeant at arms of the Varsity Club, captain of the Chess Club, and a member of the National Honor Society, French Honor Society and the varsity tennis team. In her free time, she enjoys playing the guitar, viola, bass, piano and drums and traveling to the Philippines. Pauline hasn’t decided upon a major to study next year, but is considering business, film, or music. She is the daughter of Joel DelaCruz and Melani Ishibashi.

Michele Abatangelo is October’s Lions Girl of the Month. She is vice president of the Varsity Club, Student Council vice president, and National Honor Society president. She is also a member of the LOTE Honor Society, winter and spring track teams, Best Buddies, Yearbook Club, and Athletes Helping Athletes and has been on the High Honor Roll throughout her career at Southampton High School. Michele is the captain of the cross country team and enjoys reading, running and swimming in her spare time. She hopes to attend the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and major in finance. Michele is the daughter of Amy Farkas and Michael Abatangelo.
