The Hampton Bays Civic Association will host a meet the candidates night for those individuals seeking to represent the South Fork in Albany next year during its monthly meeting on Monday night.
The group has invites out to all five people seeking office, but thus far only the incumbents—State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr., an Independence Party member from Sag Harbor, and Senator Kenneth P. LaValle, a Republican from Port Jefferson—have confirmed that they will be there. Michael Conroy is running against Mr. LaValle on the Democratic ticket, while Heather Collins and Brian DeSesa are challenging Mr. Thiele on the Republican and Conservative Party lines, respectively.
The two candidates for Suffolk County Comptroller—Republican John M. Kennedy Jr. and Democrat James Gaughran—also have been invited.
The event, which will begin at 7 p.m. at the Southampton Town Community Center on Ponquogue Avenue, will allow the candidates opportunities to meet constituents and debate local issues, according to a release from the Hampton Bays Civic Association.
