The Shinnecock Nation invites community members to a Water Day celebration this Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the Shinnecock Nation Community Center. The center is located at the corner of Church and Little Church streets, on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation.
Members of the nation, engineers with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and scientists from both the U.S. Geological Survey and the Environmental Protection Agency will offer seminars regarding the impacts pollution has on local habitat and life cycles of native species. They will also explain the role that oyster fishery plays on the cultural and economic health of the nation.
