Westhampton Beach Board Of Education Given Common Core Quiz

The Westhampton Beach Board of Education was put on the spot during Monday night’s meeting in the middle school library when each member, along with the district’s administrators, was asked to take part in a “sprint,” a one-minute quiz in which they all had to answer as many algebra questions as possible in that time. Most had between 25 and 30 correct answers. This was done as part of a presentation led by middle school math teacher Michelle Duffy to demonstrate the new Common Core practices. The meeting, which clocked in at just about 30 minutes, was opened with a moment of silence in remembrance of recently deceased board member Gordon Werner. KYLE CAMPBELL PHOTOS
