The body found at Napeague Lane Beach this morning was that of a male, according to Captain Chris Anderson, “deceased from an apparent gunshot wound, self-inflicted,” he said by phone on Monday afternoon. Capt. Anderson could not comment on an age or name of the victim.
Police Chief Michael Sarlo said there were no signs of foul play in the person’s death, however he could not identify the body pending notification of the next of kin. The investigation is ongoing.
East Hampton Town Police are investigating a body found at Napeague Lane Beach on the Napeague stretch sometime on Monday morning, according to a police dispatcher.
