CFP Board Ambassador

Kevin A. Luss, of Southampton-based insurance and financial planning services firm the Luss Group, was recently chosen to be a board ambassador for the Certified Financial Planners Board. CFP board ambassadors are chosen after completing a rigorous application process based on their demonstration of leadership skills, passion for the financial planning profession and commitment to the CFP’s mission to serve the public. “CFP board ambassadors provide a valuable service to the financial planning profession, to the public and to our organization,” said CFP board consumer advocate Eleanor Blayney.

Charity Of The Month

On Tuesday, November 18, Water Mill-based eatery Sabrosa Mexican Grill presented the Coalition for Women’s Cancers with a check for $1,565. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Sabrosa chose to sponsor the coalition for its October Charity of the Month program.

On Friday, November 28, Sabrosa will present a check for $1,569 to the Children’s Museum of the East End, as they were September’s Charity of the Month.

Each month, Sabrosa donates a portion of its proceeds to a local business or charity whose work helps the community. The November Charity of the Month is the Animal Resuce Fund of the Hamptons. Sabrosa is located at 1152 Montauk Highway in Water Mill. For more information, call (631) 725-6565.

Leadership Award Granted

BaintonLynch law firm, based in Manhattan, Garden City and Queens, has announced that Carl A. Irace was awarded “The Leadership in Law Award” by Long Island Business News. Mr. Irace, an East Hampton resident, was honored at a gala dinner at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury on November 13. The award recognizes individuals in the legal profession whose excellence in leadership has had a positive effect on Long Island.

Suffolk Bancorp Report

Suffolk Bancorp, the parent company of Suffolk County National Bank, recently reported a net income of $3.7 million for the third quarter of 2014, compared to $3.9 million for the same period a year ago. Other third-quarter highlights include a core net income increase of 85.2 percent, to $3.6 million, compared to the third quarter of 2013.

“Our lending businesses are performing exceedingly well and continue to deliver strong loan growth,” President and CEO Howard C. Bluver stated.

Mr. Bluver also reported a growth in deposits and strong credit quality. “I am very pleased to report another excellent quarter. We continue to see accelerating momentum in all our core businesses,” he said in a release.

Suffolk Bankcorp also recently announced that its board of directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of 6 cents per share on its common stock. The dividend will be payable on Wednesday, November 26, to recorded shareholders as of Wednesday, November 12.
