Hayground School News, December 4

Hayground School

Students in Liz Bertsch’s class are busy finding great stories to record for this year’s film projects. Half of the class has recorded stories and the other half should be completed in December. Some of the stories so far include “parachuting in Dubai,” “running from a hornets nest,” “sneaking in the backyard to walk a tightrope,” “acquiring a kayak in Brooklyn in the 1950s,” “a pillow,” “a fire while camping,” and “a trip to the Dominican Republic.” The class has enjoyed listening to one another’s stories, discussing how to bring them to life through film, and working in small groups.

One of the films created by filmmakers from last year’s film class was accepted to the seventh annual Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival. “Chicken” will be screened at the festival on Thursday, December 4, at 11:30 a.m. at Bay Street Theater.
