East Hampton Town Police Seeking Information In Six Commercial Burglaries

East Hampton Town Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a man they believe committed six burglaries at commercial businesses throughout Wainscott and East Hampton Town on the morning of Thursday, November 29.

A suspect was captured by a surveillance camera, police said, and images of the burglaries were released to local media outlets. The suspect is believed to be a white male wearing blue jeans, a green hooded sweatshirt and black boots, and driving a white pickup truck.

According to East Hampton Town Police Captain Chris Anderson, Calvo’s Deli, Chiquita Latina, Franey’s Wine and Liquors, La Capannina Pizza, and Wainscott Wines and Liquors were all broken into. The burglar smashed the glass front doors of the businesses and stole a total of $880 in cash, coins and cash registers, not counting what was stolen from Wainscott Wines and Liquors, for which a tally was not yet available. The burglar also attempted to break into Twice Upon a Bagel.

Over Labor Day weekend, a white male also burglarized Nichol’s Restaurant in East Hampton Village, which has since gone out of business, and La Fondita in Amagansett. No arrest was made in connection with those incidents.

However, Capt. Anderson said he was unsure if the incidents at that time were related to those this week. “We certainly are investigating it with that in mind, but we can’t definitively connect the incidents at this point,” he said by phone.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at (631) 537-7575. All information will be kept confidential, police said.
