Tuckahoe School

Congratulations to seventh-grader Will Platt for competing in the New York YMCA State Championship. All athletes competing had to make qualifying times by participating in swim meets throughout the year. Will Platt qualified for six out of seven events in his age group. His coach chose his three events for the state meet: the 50-yard backstroke, 50-breast stroke and 200 yards freestyle. Will placed 21 out 56 swimmers in the backstroke, 24 out of 57 in the breaststroke. His best event was 200 freestyle where he qualified for the finals and won first in his seat while taking 4 seconds off his best time. During the finals again, Will won first in his seat placing 9th overall and taking another 3 seconds off his time.
