Quogue Fire Department Will Host Open House Sunday

The Quogue Fire Department is hosting an open house this Sunday, April 26, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Jessup Avenue firehouse and also looking to recruit new volunteers.

As part of the fifth annual state-wide RecruitNY program, Quogue firefighters will be showing visitors the ins and outs of volunteering, highlighting the benefits of signing up, and raising public awareness about the need for volunteers. Visitors can tour the firehouse, inspect apparatus, try on gear and watch demonstrations.

The Quogue Fire Department currently boasts 64 members, though leaders are looking to add at least six more to their ranks.

“Our current members love what they do,” said Quogue Fire Chief Bruce Davidson. “They are everyday heroes who help neighbors in need. We hope our recruitment day will inspire other area residents to join our fire service family.”
