A fire in a work van caused some damage to a home in Wainscott on Wednesday, April 15.

The Bridgehampton Fire Department responded to the fire in a plumber’s van that was parked in front of 45 Town Line Road.

Bridgehampton Fire Chief Gary Horsburgh said the call came in at 12:55 p.m. and that firefighters spent more than an hour putting out the blaze. He said a plumber had been doing work inside the house.

“When he came outside to get some parts, he saw that his truck was on fire,” Chief Horsburgh said.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire, but the plumber’s van was completely demolished and was towed away, the fire chief said.

According to East Hampton Town Police Chief Michael Sarlo, there was minor smoke damage to paint on the house, and some landscaping outside the residence was damaged.

Fire Department officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
