Springs Man Charged For Burglary And Theft In Amagansett

A 27-year-old Springs man was arrested by Suffolk County Police and charged with multiple felonies, including for the burglary and grand larceny of two vehicles in Amagansett that occurred at the end of March.

Nicholas C. Gray of Roosevelt Avenue was arrested at the Lindenhurst Motel in Babylon on April 7, during an East Hampton Town Police Detective Division investigation of a series of burglaries and larcenies in Amagansett. He was found with two handguns, which police said were stolen from a home on Marine Boulevard in Amagansett.

According to Detective Sergeant Greg Schaefer, Mr. Gray committed two burglaries at homes on Marine Boulevard and stole two vehicles—one from the Amagansett train station and one from T&B Auto Service on Montauk Highway.

Mr. Gray was arraigned on weapons charges in 1st District Court in Central Islip on April 8 and was remanded to the Suffolk County Jail in Riverside, where he did not post bail, which was set at $30,000.

Det. Sgt. Schaefer said Mr. Gray faces several felony charges: the two burglaries and two grand larcenies in Amagansett, weapons charges, possession of stolen property (the firearms), and grand larceny of a credit card. Det. Sgt. Schaefer said there could be additional charges.

The investigation is ongoing and East Hampton Town Police ask that anyone with information call the department at (631) 537-7575. All calls will be kept confidential.
