The East Hampton baseball team fell to 2-10 after getting swept in a three-game series with Miller Place last week. The Bonackers lost, 10-2, at home on April 21, 8-0, at Miller Place the following day, and, 6-3, at home on Friday. The Bonackers were scheduled to face first-place Bayport/Blue Point in a three-game set this week, and will conclude the season with a three-game series against Mount Sinai. On Tuesday, May 5, the Bonackers will host a fundraiser during their home game against Mount Sinai, raising awareness of Huntington’s Disease, a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. The disease has similarities to ALS, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. There will be food, prizes, music and raffles.
The Lady Bonackers fell to 3-6 in League V, 3-7 overall, after dropping three of four games last week. East Hampton began the week with an 8-6 home loss to Westhampton Beach (6-6) on April 21 and lost, 12-0, at Comsewogue (6-6) two days later on the road, before beating Elwood/John Glenn (0-10), 12-1, on the road the following day. On Saturday, East Hampton lost, 11-2, at home against Islip (9-2). East Hampton needed to go 6-3 in its final nine games in order to finish with a .500 record, the requirement for making the playoffs.
The Bonackers fell to 0-11 in League III, 1-11 overall with three losses last week. East Hampton lost, 14-6, at Islip on April 21, 12-4, at home to Eastport South Manor (4-6) on April 23, and, 13-6, at home to Miller Place (8-2) on Saturday. Jack Schleicher had three goals in the loss to ESM, and two goals and an assist in the loss to Islip (7-3).
The Lady Whalers moved to 4-5 in League VI after dropping two of three games last week, all close. They started with a 4-3 home loss to Mercy (6-3) on April 21, before beating Mattituck (3-6), 5-4, on the North Fork the following day. On April 25, they lost, 4-2, at Center Moriches (9-0 in league, 12-0 overall).
Lottie Evans was the hero for Pierson in the win over Mattituck, hitting a two-run triple in the top of the seventh to put her team up, 5-4. It was one of three hits on the day for her. Alyssa Kneeland had two hits on the day, and pitcher Sam Duchemin struck out eight to get the win.
Pierson and Mercy were tied at 2-2 until the seventh inning, when Jamie Lessard scored what would be the game-winner for Mercy on a single by Katie Wilkie. In the loss to Center Moriches, Pierson spotted the Lady Red Devils three runs in the first inning, and didn’t do enough on offense to overcome it.
The Lady Mariners fell to 1-8 in League VI after two losses last week. They were downed, 11-7, at Hampton Bays (5-3) on April 22 before losing, 10-5, at Port Jefferson (3-6) two days later.
The Mariners are 0-7 in League IV (0-9 overall) after three losses last week. They were defeated, 19-7, at Port Jeff (5-3) on April 21, 15-3, at home against Babylon (7-0) two days later, and, 16-2, at Mattituck/Greenport/Southold (6-1) on Friday.
The Mariners are 0-9 in League VII, 0-11 overall after three consecutive 6-1 losses. They fell to Ross at home on April 21, at Rocky Point on April 23, and at Ross again the following day.
