Lady Bonackers Lacrosse Still Fighting For Playoff Berth After Winning Two Of Three

The East Hampton girls lacrosse team broke even this week, improving to 5-5 after winning two of three games.

The Lady Bonackers started the week by pulling out an 18-17 win at Bellport on April 22 before suffering a 22-9 loss at West Babylon the following day. They rebounded with a 13-9 win at Center Moriches on Saturday.

As of Monday morning, East Hampton sat in 17th place out of 25 teams in Division II with 91.900 power points (and 12th place among the Class B teams in the division). The top seven Class B teams within the division—which also includes several Class C schools—qualify for the playoffs. The Lady Bonackers were scheduled to play at Kings Park (3-6, 77.810) on Monday, weather permitting, in a game that was important to win since the Lady Kingsmen were ranked below them. (For results, see this week’s Monday Roundup article).

Against Bellport, Cassidy Walsh tied the game at 13-13 with a goal, before Carley Seekamp tallied what would be the game-winner, as East Hampton never trailed after that point. Goalie Georgia Aldrich (five saves) made a few key saves down the stretch to preserve the win. Seekamp finished with seven goals and four assists, while Walsh had six goals and three assists. Jenna Budd had two goals and three assists; Jacqui Thorsen had two goals and an assist, Lucy Emptage had a goal and two assists, and Elizabeth Bistrian had an assist.

Walsh led East Hampton with four goals in the loss to West Babylon, while Bistrian added two goals, Budd had a goal
and an assist, and Seekamp
and Francesca Keogh each
had a goal. Aldrich made eight saves.

The Lady Bonackers were in control from start to finish against Center Moriches. Seekamp had five goals and an assist; Budd had four goals and an assist; Emptage, Lina Bistrian and Hollie Schleicher each had a goal and an assist; Sophia Bitis had a goal; and Thorsen had an assist. Aldrich made six saves.

East Hampton was slated to visit Harborfields on May 1 (5 p.m.), host Hampton Bays on May 6 (4 p.m.) and host Islip on May 9 (10 a.m.) to conclude the regular season.
