Tuckahoe Planting Potatoes For Fall

Tuckahoe students took advantage of the warm weather last week to plant some potatoes in the school’s community garden under the guidance of Matthew Doris, director of food services for the district. The potatoes, which will be ready to harvest in the fall, will be used to supplement the district’s cafeteria food, and spurred a lesson with students about the history of Tuckahoe, which means potato in the Shinneock language.
