The Pierson softball team moved to 7-5 in League VI after a 6-3 win over last-place Southampton on Monday. Sam Duchemin struck out 10 and allowed five hits to get the third straight win for the Lady Whalers. Lily Kot had two RBIs to lead Pierson.
James Sherry was the catalyst for Pierson in a 3-2 win over Smithtown Christian on Monday that moved Pierson to 11-5 on the season. Sherry went the distance on the mound, allowing one earned run with four strikeouts and seven hits, and he also scored the third run of the game for his team, on an RBI single by Jack Fitzpatrick in the third inning that put Pierson up 3-1. Sherry was 2 for 3 on the day with two runs and two stolen bases.
