A tractor-trailer truck hit the railroad overpass on Route 114 in East Hampton on Tuesday morning, flipping onto its side.
Route 114 was shut down between Toilsome Lane and Cove Hollow Road until the truck was hauled away. According to East Hampton Town Police, there were no injuries as a result of the accident.
The East Hampton Fire Department responded to the crash at approximately 8:50 a.m., and Long Island Rail Road engineers were called to the scene to inspect any damage to the overpass.
“Very often in this situation, the driver will be issued a summons for disobeying the height restrictions,” said Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman Aaron Donovan. However, he said that in this case, the driver was not issued a summons by MTA police.
He added that no trains were delayed, and that no damage to the overpass was found.
