The Amagansett School District unexpectedly canceled classes Monday morning after staff arrived at 6 a.m. to find there was no heat or water in the building, and that the school’s basement had flooded, District Clerk Cheryl Bloecker said Monday morning.
Ms. Bloecker said children and parents were alerted through the district’s messaging system and no students arrived by mistake. There was also an alert posted on the district’s website.
As of 10:20 a.m., Ms. Bloecker said maintenance had yet to determine what exactly caused the flood.
“We don’t even know what’s wrong yet,” she said. “At this point, we hope to be open tomorrow.”
