Southampton Town Police nabbed nine suspected offenders during one segment of the Suffolk County district attorney’s office’s East End DWI Task Force conducted from 8 p.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday.
Patrols were utilized throughout the Town of Southampton, and 56 motorists were stopped and screened for impaired driving, according to police. Of the 56, six were arrested and charged with driving while impaired or intoxicated, two were arrested on outstanding warrants, and one was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
The six motorists who were arrested for DWI:
Elvin M. Mendez, 21, of Mastic Beach was charged with driving while impaired by drugs as well as unlawful possession of marijuana.
Abel Depaz, 25, of Hampton Bays was arrested for DWI, a misdemeanor, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the first degree, a felony.
Maria Fransisco, 46, of Flanders; Andre Baskin, 39, of Riverhead; William Debeauchamp, 61, of Smithtown; and Michele Schutte, 33 of Yaphank were all charged with DWI.
The press release also noted that during the time of the Task Force Enforcement Detail, no vehicle collisions resulting serious injuries were reported within the Town of Southampton.
