Today is the last day of school, and then winter break until January 4.This time of year, a lot of charities, churches and organizations ask for money, Remember, you can still be a part of the community and give back even, when you don’t have money to spare. Sometimes giving your time and smiles and kind gestures are more valuable than money. Remember to think that everyone has stuff; it is just the order we put it in.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and there are additional worship times in our hamlet. St Michael’s has a worship service at 5 p.m. and the first Presbyterian Church of Amagansett has a candlelight service at 7 p.m.

The following are ongoing church worship times in our hamlet, Saturday evening, the Mass of Most Holy Trinity takes place at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Amagansett at 5 p.m. St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, across the street from the Amagansett Post Office, holds its worship service Sundays at 11 a.m. St. Michael’s is home to the Amagansett Satellite of the East Hampton Food Pantry. It is open Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. from November to May. Donations and volunteers are always welcome.

Congratulations to East Hampton School students Devon Brown and Zach Barzilay. They are the winners of the 2016 logo contest for the Polar Beach Plunge that will be held on New Year’s Day at 1 p.m. at Main Beach in East Hampton. This event is sponsored by the YMCA East Hampton RECenter and organized by East Hampton Ocean Rescue Squad and is all to benefit the East Hampton Food Pantries. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. at Main Beach. Ask your friends and family to sponsor you. All plungers must raise at least $30 to plunge. More information and packets for sponsor sheets are available, by calling 324-2300 or www.easthamptonfoodpantry.org.

The best way to dress to plunge is bathing suit, bathrobe and flip-flops. Hot cocoa and other treats will be served in the celebration tent after you get wet. If you don’t want to plunge, please consider sponsoring someone. It is all for a great cause. I hope to see you there.
