One person was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital last week with non-life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle collided with an SUV that was making a left turn into the Burger King from County Road 39 in Southampton
According to Southampton Town Police, the accident, which involved a 1989 Harley-Davidson and 2005 Honda CR-V, occurred at about 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13. The woman transported by a Suffolk County Aviation helicopter was a passenger on the motorcycle, according to Southampton Village Fire Department 1st Assistant Chief Chris Brenner. The helicopter landed on a small field near the Southampton Cemetery.
The road was closed for about 45 minutes while emergency personnel responded to the scene, Chief Brenner said.
Both the driver of the motorcycle and the driver of the SUV were transported to Southampton Hospital via Southampton Volunteer Ambulance. The extent of their injuries was unknown, police said.
