The Springs Board of Education has begun a search for a new superintendent of schools—and is seeking the public’s help in the process.
District residents have been encouraged to attend a community forum this Thursday, January 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the school library and voice their opinions regarding the ongoing search to replace retiring Superintendent John Finello. Residents will help come up with a “profile” of qualities they would like to see in the new hire.
The forum will be hosted by District Wise Search Consultants, a Woodbury-based firm selected by the School Board to help search for Mr. Finello’s replacement.
Those who can’t make the forum on Thursday or prefer to submit opinions anonymously can still offer their thoughts on the search by emailing email@example.com. The information collected at the forum will also be collected anonymously and organized in a report to be presented to the School Board. Input submitted via email before February 1 will be included in the report, although further input sent to the email will remain anonymous and will be forwarded to the School Board.
Mr. Finello said over the summer that he would retire at the end of the 2016, but announced in the fall that he would stay on until his replacement was found. Mr. Finello started as an interim superintendent in September 2013 and was appointed the full-time superintendent in June 2015.
