A Riverside man was arrested by New York State Police on Friday on felony sexual assault charges after he was accused of inappropriately touching a 5-year-old boy.
Amilcar Alvarado-Villavicenc, 32, who police say shares a living space with the victim and his mother, was arrested at home on Friday and charged with first-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree sex abuse, both felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
Mr. Alvarado-Villavicenc abused the boy earlier this week, and the mother reported the incident at 3:45 p.m. on Friday at the State Police barracks in Riverside, according to police.
Arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court in front of Deborah Kooperstein, Mr. Alvarado-Villavicenc was remanded to the Suffolk County Jail in Riverside in lieu of posting $25,000 cash bail.
He appeared in court on Tuesday and his case was adjourned until November 22 at 9 a.m.
