Bridgehampton School is the winner of the Trex Plastic Bag Recycling Challenge by collecting the most plastic bags (5,296 plastic bags in all or 39 bags per student) in the contest offered to local schools through the North Sea Recycling Center. By competing in the contest, students learned about recycling and practiced good recycling habits. The school will receive a Trex Bench as a prize.

Students in Ms. Carmack’s botany and photography class participated in Earthstock: A Celebration of Earth Day at Stony Brook University on Friday, April 19. The students’ research project in hydroponic gardening, “Farming for the Future,” allowed students the opportunity to share their knowledge of gardening with water-grown vegetables.

The Bridgehampton School Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports Team announced its ROCKS Rewards winners for April. Kindergartener Avery McCleland received the elementary Top Bee Award and café voucher. Tenth-grader Hayley Lund received the lunch on the town reward, and Mrs. Scaramucci’s kindergarten class enjoyed MEGA recess.

Kindergarten screening for students entering kindergarten in September 2013 will be held on Friday, May 3.

The spring concert for prekindergarten through fifth grade will be held on May 9 at 7 p.m. Grade six to 12 awards day for excellence in athletics and academics will take place on May 16 starting at 9:45 a.m.
