Congratulations are in order for some local actors and singers who have been nominated for Teeny Awards. Those nominated from Westhampton Beach High School are: Chris Durst, for Lead Actor in a Comedy; Rachel Rienecker, for Lead Actress in a Comedy; Nicholas Auletti and Jack Vicari, both for Supporting Actor in a Comedy; Francesco Logozzo, for Lead Actor in a Musical; Tye Granger, for Outstanding Performance; and Jesse Buchter, for Stage Management Recognition. The winners will be announced on Sunday, June 9, at the Teeny Awards, to be held at Southold Junior-Senior High School, located at 420 Oaklawn Avenue. Award-winning broadcaster, producer, host and interviewer Bonnie Grice will host the ceremony. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and are available to the public. Kathleen Palmer, daughter of Charles and Theresa Palmer, graduated from the University of Central Florida Honors Program with a bachelor’s degree in health science on May 2. Kathleen plans to pursue a graduate degree in physical therapy and will begin a three-year doctoral program starting this May. Way to go, Kathleen!

Congratulations also go out this week to Elizabeth Lindvit, who recently took over the helm as Westhampton Beach Village clerk. She asked me to inform you that 2013 Westhampton Beach Village beach passes will be available at Village Hall, 165 Mill Road, on Sunday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for village taxpayer residents, Westhampton Beach Fire Department members, Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance members and village employees only. All the rest of us can get our passes at Rogers Beach on weekends starting May 24 until June 16, then every day from June 22 until September 2. The beach’s hours of operation will be 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The Westhampton Free Library will host a special “Dine and Discuss” with former Westhampton Beach Mayor and World War II veteran Arma “Ham” Andon on Friday, May 17, at 6 p.m. Mr. Andon will discuss his book “One Man’s Journey: World War II” and his life experiences. Light sandwiches and salad will be served, and reservations are requested by calling 288-3335 or emailing whamprograms@gmail.com.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will be holding its annual Great Strides Walk on Saturday, May 18, on the Village Green in Westhampton Beach, at the corner of Main Street and Mill Road. Registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by the walk at 10 a.m. If you would like to donate to a local team, Lauren Cunneen’s Dream Team is a great option. Don’t forget there are two budgets to vote on this upcoming Tuesday, May 21. The Westhampton Beach School District and the Westhampton Free Library budget vote will be held from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. in the Large Group Instruction Room in Westhampton Beach High School.

Westhampton Beach Girl Scouts Troop 2168 will be holding its annual yard sale on Saturday, May 25, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Jonesey’s Restaurant on Montauk Highway. Not only will you be able to find some nice yard sale items but they will also have their evil (so addicting!) cookies for sale. All funds raised will go toward their trip to Orlando, Florida, this summer. The rain date is Sunday, May 26.

The Westhampton Rotary Club’s 28th annual golf outing will be held at the Westhampton Country Club on Monday, June 3. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The cost is $350 per player, which includes greens fees and cart, lunch, cocktails, dinner, clam bar and tons of prizes. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception will hold its 100th Anniversary Celebration Barbecue on Saturday, June 8, in the parish center from 6 to 9 p.m. Lobster tickets are $50, chicken tickets are $30, and hot dog tickets are $12. Each ticket includes salads and dessert. Take-out meals also are available. Tickets are available at the church rectory or at Lynne’s Cards and Gifts on Main Street in Westhampton Beach.
