Southampton Town Employee Fired After DWI Crash

The Southampton Town Parks and Recreation Department employee who was arrested and charged with DWI last week after the town-owned pickup truck he was driving hit another vehicle has been fired from his seasonal job.

Kevin Fennel was working for the town Parks and Recreation Department last Saturday, May 11, when the truck he was driving wandered into another lane of traffic on County Road 39 and struck another car. When police responded just after 11 a.m., they determined that Mr. Fennel was intoxicated and placed him under arrest.

Two people in the other vehicle were treated for minor injuries. The town pickup suffered significant damage and had to be removed by a tow truck.

Town Management Services Administrator Russell Kratoville said last week that Mr. Fennel’s employment by the town had been terminated.

“He was a part-time employee and can be terminated at will,” Mr. Kratoville said.
