One Injured When Car Crashes Through Dinosaurs In Southampton


UPDATE, 4 p.m.

The driver of the car that drove into several dinosaur statues earlier this afternoon has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI, Southampton Town Police have confirmed.

Christopher Spano, 31, of Manorville was traveling eastbound on County Road 39 when he veered to the left, crossing through the westbound lane of traffic, before hitting the collection of dinosaurs.

He was taken to Southampton Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. According to Sergeant Michael Burns of the Southampton Town Police, the man is under police custody at the hospital and will not be arraigned until after he is released from the hospital. More charges may be added later.

The Southampton Town Fire Marshal, Southampton Town Police and Southampton Volunteer Ambulance all responded to the scene.


One person was injured early Tuesday afternoon when a car drove off the road and crashed into dinosaur statues on display on County Road 39 in Southampton.

The driver of the blue Nissan Sentra suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash, which took place outside of Yesterday’s Treasures in Southampton. No one else was hurt in the accident.

Several of the dinosaur statues, which several locals consider a landmark when driving along the road, were on their side and broken following the accident.

More information was not immediately available and police are still on scene.
