East Hampton To Hold Deer Control Forum On Thursday, July 18

The East Hampton Village Preservation Society will hold a public forum on deer control on Thursday, July 18, at 5 p.m. at the East Hampton Emergency Services Building on Cedar Street in East Hampton.

The forum will feature guest speaker Dr. Anthony DeNicola, co-founder and president of White Buffalo, Inc., a nonprofit wildlife management and research organization dedicated to conserving native species and ecosystems through damage and population control. Dr. DeNicola has coordinated successful nationwide deer reproductive control projects, most recently a sterilization project in the Village of Cayuga Heights, New York.

Topics will include the successes of doe sterilization, how such a program may be instituted in a municipality with firearm constraints like East Hampton Village, and why this approach could help to overcome the unavailability of lethal methods of deer management.
