East Quogue Community Notes, August 1

I find it absolutely amazing that we are already at summer’s midpoint. It seems that the season I anxiously await all year long always goes way too quickly. So when I received an email from East Quogue School District Clerk Lenore Rezza concerning a change in the date of the August Board of Education meeting, it really hit home that fall will soon be on its way. The new date for that meeting is Tuesday, August 13, and it will take place at 7:45 p.m. in the cafetorium of the East Quogue Elementary School on Central Avenue. The meeting was originally scheduled to be held on Tuesday, August 27.

Very happy birthday wishes go to Ramona Kuroski who celebrated her special day yesterday, Wednesday, July 31. May you have many more wonderful birthdays, Mona!

Our very own Tom Lennon was appointed secretary of the Rotary Club of Riverhead last month in ceremonies held at the Inn at East Wind in Wading River. Tom, chief financial officer of Pine Barrens Printing, is also a board member of our East Quogue Chamber of Commerce. Congratulations, Tom!

Kudos to Kelly Crowley who was named as an orientation assistant at the University of Scranton. Kelly, a member of the Class of 2014, is one of 50 assistants who will help assimilate incoming students to college life. Kelly is double majoring in occupational therapy and philosophy at the university.

Congrats also go out this week to recent Westhampton Beach High School graduate Christian Tureski who was awarded the first East End Hospice Nursing Scholarship. Christian plans to pursue his nursing degree at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island in September. Best wishes!
