Thanks to a “very last minute booking,” Patti Smith will give an acoustic performance at the Surf Lodge in Montauk on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the lodge announced this week. The doors will open at 5, and Yacht out of Portland, Oregon, will be the opening act.
A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Ms. Smith was influential in getting the punk rock movement off the ground, in particular with her 1975 debut album, “Horses.” She appeared at the Escape to New York concert in Southampton in 2011 and is a poet and visual artist in addition to being a singer and songwriter.
Like a Willie Nelson concert earlier this summer, Saturday’s show will be free, although spaces are limited and can be guaranteed by making a $40 donation to the Montauk Playhouse at www.montaukplayhouse.org/the-surf-lodge-concert-series.
G. Love, frontman for the band G. Love and Special Sauce, will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.
