Village Main Street Reopened Following Small Fire Wednesday Morning

Main Street was reopened to traffic after firefighters cleared the scene on Wednesday morning. According to Chief Brenner, the cause of the fire is still unknown, but is under investigation by the Southampton Town Fire Marshal’s office.


A section of Main Street in Southampton Village was closed Wednesday morning after a small fire broke out in a second-floor law office, according to Southampton Fire Department officials.

According to Fire Chief Chris Brenner, firefighters responded to the blaze in the law offices above Corwin’s Jewelers at 8:23 a.m., and it was put out by 8:31 a.m.

Four trucks responded to the scene and the cause of the fire was unknown. Firefighters had to break down a door to gain entry to the office.

No injuries were reported and there was no structural damage to the building, according to officials.

Main Street was closed between Nugent and Wall streets and was expected to be reopened by 9:15 a.m.
