The proposed $1.53 million 2014 budget for the Hampton Library in Bridgehampton was approved by Bridgehampton and Sagaponack voters on Saturday, September 28, by a 90-percent approval rating in each district.
In the Bridgehampton School District, voters approved the budget 51-3. In Sagaponack, voters approved the budget with a vote of 24-2.
As part of the 2014 operating budget the Hampton Library will be increasing its operating hours until 9 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, beginning on November 13. On that day an open house celebration will be held starting at 7 p.m., which is when the library has been closing.
In addition to the budget vote, two trustees were elected by voters in Bridgehampton and one trustee was reelected in Sagaponack. Mary Lee, who ran uncontested, was elected as library trustee for a three-year term by Bridgehampton voters with 51 votes. Sandra Ferguson, who ran uncontested as well, was elected library trustee for a three-year term by Bridgehampton voters with 50 votes.
The Honorable Bruce Kaplan, who also ran uncontested, was elected unanimously, with 26 votes, as library trustee for a three-year term by voters in Sagaponack.
