Carole A. Brennan, who has served as East Hampton Town’s deputy clerk for 20 years, is running unopposed for town clerk, a four-year term that pays $83,285 per year.
The lifelong Sag Harbor resident has no party affiliation, but is endorsed by the Democratic, Republican, Conservative and Independence parties.
“After being deputy for 20 years, I felt I was the best candidate,” the longtime town employee said of her reason for running, adding that her longevity in Town Hall has given her a thorough understanding of local government.
“I treat everyone the same regardless of party affiliation and know what it takes to get the job done,” she said.
The Pierson High School graduate is running on a platform based on increasing the use of electronic correspondence and permitting in town, as well as digitizing and preserving records.
Ms. Brennan said she will work closely with all board members to assist them in any way possible.
She is married to Joe, her husband of 41 years, and has two children, Rachael and Matthew, and four grandchildren, Patrick, Chloe, Madison and Mariann.
