Hayground School

The Hayground School Holiday Bazaar was a huge success. There were vendors from all over the East End including Southampton Soap Company, Vines and Branches, Susan Williams Gently Used Items, BookHampton, Dolce Nirvana, Solinger Art, Bobbiglue, Temptress Yarn, Mary Jaffe Pottery, Stars Café, Barefoot Books, Edible East End, Hayground Sweatshirts, Dune Road Designs, Nofo Crunch Granola, Gula Gula Empanadas, Hayground Homemade Playdough, Fatiha Elhoum and Illyrian Olive Oil. Music was provided all day by Scott Hopson.

In their bookbinding workshop, students in Marybeth Pacilio’s class are learning to make a simple accordion book out of envelopes and matte board. They are mixing their own wheat paste, which is an adhesive used since antiquity for bookbinding, among other things. They are also learning to use a bone folder: which is a simple folding tool used wherever sharp creases are needed.
