Janet E. Pelosi Of South Carolina, Formerly Of Center Moriches, Dies December 4


Janet E. Pelosi died at her home in Beaufort, South Carolina, on December 4. She was 76.

Born and raised in College Point, Queens, she was a devoted and loving mother of six children. In 1974, she and her former husband, Robert Pelosi Sr., moved from Flushing to Center Moriches, where they remained until moving to Beaufort in 2010. Although she was a longtime employee of Eastern Federal Savings in Center Moriches and North Fork Bank in Hampton Bays, her life revolved around her greatest love, her family, survivors said.

Ms. Pelosi was predeceased by her children Janet Ann Smith and James Paul Pelosi; a brother, John Kalmus of Quogue; and a sister, Kay Perrone. She is survived by her children Barbara Lukert Williams and husband Raymond, Robert Francis Jr. and wife Eileen, Daniel John, and Joan Eileen Giammatteo and husband Guy; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeff, Tracie, Kelly Grace (Lukert), Rachelle, Daniel, Anthony (Pelosi), Nicholas (Pelosi), Michael, Amy (Smith), Tyler, Jake, Gage, Emma Jay (Giammatteo) and Danny, Ashley, Deanna and Robert (Pelosi); and great-grandchildren, Kaylee Janet, Ayden, Jordan, Shea, James and Daniel. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Eileen Kalmus; and a nephew and niece, Keith Kalmus and Jackie Gratz, among many relatives and friends.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 14, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John Evangelist Church of Center Moriches. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in East Moriches. Memorial donations may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, www.ocrf.org.
