Fire At East Hampton Cleaners Shuts Down Newtown Lane


At approximately 1:45 p.m., on Wednesday, December 11, the East Hampton Fire Department responded to the scene of a small fire at the East Hampton Cleaners at 104 Newtown Lane in East Hampton Village.

According to Fire Department Chief Tom Bono, a shirt press machine had caught fire.

East Hampton Village Police briefly closed a section of Newtown Lane between Railroad Avenue and Osborne Lane. It was reopened at about 2:15 p.m.

Chief Bono said that the incident was relatively minor and that the cleaners would be able to resume operation.
