A blood drive will be held at the Hampton Bays Public Library on December 30, hosted by a local high school student seeking a scholarship.
Nikki Distefano, a freshman at Hampton Bays High School, is organizing the event in order to earn up to $500 in scholarship money. It will take place from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the library on Ponquogue Avenue, on behalf of the Long Island Blood Service.
To earn the scholarship from the New York Blood Center, Nikki must host blood drives every three or four months, including one between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, according to her mother, Laurieann McKay.
All donors at next week’s drive will be entered into a sweepstakes to win two tickets to February’s Super Bowl in New Jersey.
