A 17-year-old cashier at the One Stop Market in Springs was charged Thursday evening with selling alcoholic beverages to a minor.
New York State Police said the Amagansett woman sold two “Four Loko” drinks to an undercover agent while working at the market on Springs Fireplace Road. She was charged with unlawfully dealing with a child and selling an alcoholic beverage to a minor, both misdemeanors, according to authorities.
The arrest was part of an underage drinking enforcement operation conducted by State Police and targeting both East Hampton and Southampton towns.
Twelve other establishments were targeted as part of the same sting, but all were in compliance, according to State Police. They include: Southampton Wines at Water Mill on Montauk Highway; Bridgehampton Wine Cellar on Main Street; Race Lane Liquors in East Hampton Village; Park Place Wine & Liquors in East Hampton Village; Fireplace Wine & Liquors in Springs; Maidstone Market & Deli on Three Mile Harbor Road in Springs; JRN Wines & Spirits on Montauk Highway in East Hampton Village; East Hampton Wines & Liquors on Springs Fireplace Road in Springs; the 7-Eleven on Water Street in Sag Harbor; Anjon of Bridgehampton on Montauk Highway; and the Hess Marts on Montauk Highway in Wainscott and Water Mill.
