Troopers Arrest Four In Hampton Bays Sobriety Checkpoint Early Sunday Morning


A sobriety checkpoint east of exit 65 in Hampton Bays on Sunrise Highway resulted in four arrests between Saturday night and Sunday morning, according to a press release issued by New York State Troopers and the Suffolk County Sheriffs Department on Sunday afternoon.

Between the hours of 11 p.m. Saturday and 4 a.m. Sunday, police stopped approximately 200 cars and arrested three people for driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and one person for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Scott Tucker, 24, of Palm Beach, Florida, and Jorge Morocho, 24, of Southampton, were arrested for driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Both men were held overnight for morning arraignment at the Southampton Town Justice Court.

Sarah Hynes, 28, of Wading River, was arrested and charged with driving while impaired by drugs, also a misdemeanor. She was released on an appearance ticket.

At the same time, a 25-year-old Southampton man was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He was also released on an appearance ticket.
