After a false start last week due to the snowstorm, the Southampton Chamber of Commerce and The Southampton Press will co-sponsor the Southampton Shop Hop in the village business district on Friday, January 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The promotion, in which 5 to 10 percent of proceeds from purchases at participating retailers will benefit the Southampton Center, will continue on the first Friday of every month. While the Southampton Center is the non-profit benefiting from the promotion this month, the charity will change each month.
Participating stores on Main Street and Jobs Lane will have signs in their windows, and shoppers are encouraged to “hop from shop to shop in support of the community.”
Retailers include Besim’s Fine Cigars, Flying Point Surf & Sport, Jill Lynn, Sea Green Designs, Stitch, Tenet, Vineyard Vines and others.
Shoppers are then encouraged to bring their receipts to Fellingham’s or the Southampton Publick House to qualify for specials and to the Southampton Inn for a discounted Friday night stay.
The Southampton Center, the former Parrish Art Museum, has a mission to restore and renovate the historic landmark for future generations while serving as a hub to strengthen arts and culture for the entire community.
